How Do Clear Aligners Work?

Clear aligners are a series of custom-made, transparent plastic trays that gradually shift your teeth into a straighter position.

The Process of Getting Invisalign or SureSmile

Your teeth-straightening journey with us starts with a consultation appointment. We’ll examine your teeth and learn about your smile goals to confirm whether clear aligners are the best option for achieving your goals.

We always encourage you to ask many questions at this point, and we’ll give you all the information you need to decide whether to proceed.

We offer both Invisalign and SureSmile clear aligners, and we’ll recommend one over the other based on how your teeth need to move to get the smile you’re planning.

Creating Your Personalized Plan

When we determine you’re ready to proceed with clear aligners, we’ll take a 3D digital scan of your teeth. These detailed images allow us to create custom aligners with your end goal in mind.

Our imaging also allows us to see what your smile will look like at the end of your treatment—often an exciting moment, especially if you’ve been dreaming of a straighter smile for a while!

Fitting Your Clear Aligners

Your aligners may take a couple of weeks to arrive at our clinic; then, it’s time for your fitting appointment.

We’ll check to make sure they fit securely over your teeth and sit comfortably around your gums.

At this point, we can help you practice inserting and removing your aligners. They’re designed to be comfortable to wear, but many patients take at least a couple of days to adjust to the new sensation of wearing them.

Follow-Up Appointments

We will schedule regular follow-up appointments with you to check your progress, make adjustments if needed, and provide you with updated aligners as your teeth gradually shift into place.

We typically set these appointments 6 to 8 weeks apart until your treatment is complete, but your schedule will be unique.
